Frequently Asked Questions
What types of trade businesses do you work with?
We work with trade and project-based businesses: electricians, plumbers, builders, contractors, and service operators. Who want stronger structure, clearer financial visibility, and reduced owner dependency.
Most clients operate in residential or commercial markets and are serious about improving performance, not just staying busy.
How does Berg Consulting help my business?
We help you build structure around how your business operates.
That includes improving operational clarity, tightening quoting and margins, strengthening team accountability, and building decision-making capability so the business runs more predictably — and less dependent on you.
This isn’t text book theory. It’s practical structure applied to real trade businesses.
Do I need to have a big business to work with you?
No. Most clients have small teams often under 20 staff.
The earlier you put the right structure in place, the easier growth becomes. Waiting until things feel chaotic is far more expensive than building capability early.
I only have a small number of staff, why do I need this type of service?
Because small teams feel pressure faster. Without structure, everything flows through the owner. That limits growth, increases stress, and makes profit unpredictable. Putting the right foundations in place early builds authority, autonomy, and performance before scale magnifies the cracks.
What does working with Berg Consulting look like?
Every engagement starts with a structured Discovery session.
From there, you receive a clear proposal outlining the right pathway forward — whether that’s a defined Coaching Program (Momentum, Stability, or Scale-Ready) or a targeted Consulting engagement for more implementation-heavy or urgent matters.
Once engaged, we move into structured sessions with clear scope, defined outcomes, and practical application aligned to your business priorities.
How do I get started?
Complete the enquiry form.
From there, we’ll schedule a Discovery session — a paid diagnostic designed to clarify your current position and define the right pathway forward.
If you proceed into a program within 14 days of receiving your proposal, 50% of the Discovery investment is applied to your program.
Is this coaching or consulting?
Both – but structured properly.
Coaching is fixed-sessions and focused on building capability, clarity, and performance over time.
Consulting is separate and delivered in half-day or full-day engagements for deeper operational intervention or implementation-heavy matters outside coaching scope.
They are distinct services with defined boundaries.
Do you “do the work” for us, or guide us through it?
No.
We provide the structure, clarity, and accountability. You retain ownership of implementation.
Where deeper intervention is required, consulting plus engagements can be scoped separately.
The goal is not dependency – it’s capability.
How can you help my business if you’re not qualified in my specific trade?
I have over 18 years of experience in business operations, project management, leadership, including 8 years on the tools. During that time, I gained hands-on knowledge of how trade businesses operate, from technical skills to managing projects on-site. My focus now is on helping you streamline your business, improve processes, and boost productivity, so you can focus on your trade. Think of it as having a coach who understands the challenges of running a trade business, guiding you to run things more smoothly.
What programs do you offer?
We offer three structured coaching programs aligned to business maturity — Momentum, Stability, and Scale-Ready — each delivered through a defined session structure focused on improving clarity, performance, and autonomy.
In addition, we provide scoped consulting services for implementation-heavy or complex operational matters, delivered in half-day or full-day engagements.
We will also be introducing Business Toolbox Day seminars in the future for focused, practical group-based learning.
What if I don’t have the budget or capability to tackle all improvements in one hit?
That’s normal — most trade businesses can’t (and shouldn’t) try to fix everything at once. We prioritise the highest-impact changes first and work through them in staged, practical steps across your coaching sessions or consulting so you get momentum without overload. Programs can be paid in full or via structured monthly instalments to keep the investment manageable while progress continues.
I am time poor; do you do the work for us?
Sessions are structured and focused. You won’t receive endless theory. Each session is designed to create clarity, direction, and defined next steps.
Between sessions, support is available for clarification and decision support, not operational delegation.
The model is built around busy trade business owners.
Can I exit early?
Yes. An early exit option is available under defined conditions, as outlined in the Terms & Conditions.
Programs are structured for commitment but reasonable flexibility exists.
Do you guarantee results?
No specific financial results can be guaranteed.
The programs are designed to improve clarity, structure, and execution capability. Results depend on implementation, discipline, and leadership inside the business.
Do you offer marketing, or finance services?
We address marketing and sales from a structural perspective, pipeline visibility, workflow discipline, pricing logic, and commercial performance tracking. We do not provide campaign execution, detailed marketing strategy development, or specialist financial advisory services.
Why should I work with you if you’re not in my exact trade?
Because the problem is rarely technical. It’s structure, visibility, decision-making, and leadership.
With extensive operational and project-based experience including years on the tools the focus is on building a business that runs properly, not teaching your trade.
Can you help reduce owner dependency in the business?
Yes. A core focus of Berg Consulting is helping trade businesses reduce day-to-day reliance on the owner.
That means building clearer structure, stronger systems, better team accountability, and more decision-making capability across the business so everything does not keep flowing back to one person.
The result is a business that runs with more clarity, more capability, and less dependence on you to hold it all together
Can you help improve quoting, margins, and profitability?
Yes. Berg Consulting helps trade businesses improve quoting discipline, pricing clarity, margin control, and financial visibility so profit becomes more intentional and less reactive.
That includes tightening how work is priced, improving visibility over gross margin and commercial performance, and helping owners make better decisions before problems show up in the numbers.
The goal is not just to stay busy — it is to run a business with stronger profit, better control, and more predictable performance.
Do you work with businesses in Sydney only, or Australia-wide?
Yes. Berg Consulting works with trade and project-based businesses in Sydney and across Australia.
Interstate engagements are generally delivered via Teams. Where travel is required for in-person support, travel costs are billed to the client.
The focus is on working with businesses that are serious about improving profit, structure, capability, and performance.
